Why Metroboard?
My goal in designing this product was to make an extremely light, compact, portable, smooth, and easy to ride electric skateboard, without sacrificing range or power. Of course, it also had to be extremely fun to ride! The Metroboard can be used for short range alternative transportation, recreational fun, as well as industrial mobility. Note that there are other electric skateboards on the market, but the Metroboard can�t be beat for its combination of size (shortboard), weight (18-31 lbs vs. a back breaking 52 lbs for my competitors), portability, power (450 Watts), and smoothness of acceleration and braking. I hand build each Metroboard myself and it comes with a 6 month warranty so you know that I stand behind the exceptional quality of my product. All service and maintenance needs will be handled locally in Portland, or through technical support on the phone/website (if you live outside of the Portland area), to ensure your Metroboard will always be running in optimal condition.
I now offer two models, a shortboard (8.5� wide x 32� long) starting at $499, and a longboard (10� wide x 41� long, made by Swimbig, www.swimbig.com, in Portland!) starting at $525. Also, if you have a specific deck that you like, I can custom build a Metroboard with whatever deck you choose. Higher tech NI-MH batteries are also available, which reduce the product weight significantly, increase the range (distance on a given charge), and increase cycle life (the number of charges you can get out of the batteries before they need to be replaced). Of course, they cost more, but you can always upgrade to this type of battery later on. For my initial product release, I will be building just 100 units.
