Which deck size is right for me?
We offer 4 standard deck sizes ranging from 29″ to 41″ long. Our shorter boards maneuver and turn more sharply. They are also more compact for ease of carrying on public transit. Our longer boards, however, will offer more ride comfort and stability. If you are uncertain, which deck is best for you, go with your gut feel. You are not locked into the initial deck that you choose. It’s not a big deal to change decks down the road. It just involves drilling a few holes in the new deck, and migrating the components over. We will advise how to do this should you choose to switch decks.
Can I choose a custom deck?
Yes! Unlike our competitors out there, we know that a skateboard is a very personal thing, and for the same reason that you would choose your own deck on a non-motorized skateboard, you can do the same with the Metroboard Electric Skateboard. If you want to do a custom deck, then please email us with a link or make and model of the deck and we will make sure it’s compatible. The main criteria for compatibility is that the deck be at least 8.25″ wide, with a wheelbase (front to rear inner truck mounting holes) of at least 14.5″. Also some flex is ok, but too much flex can be problematic since it can result in the battery box and/or motor bracket bottoming out on the ground! If you need help choosing a specific deck, please email us with what you are looking for and we’d be happy to make some suggestions. As far as the cost of doing a custom deck, we basically take $40 off the standard longboard pricing, then add the cost of getting the custom deck. So for example if you choose a deck that costs $100, then this would add $60 to the standard longboard pricing. We can buy the deck for you, and often can get wholesale pricing, and we will pass this savings on to you!
Which wheels should I choose? 85 mm or 97 mm?
Choose between our Seismic 85 mm Speed Vent Wheels and Abec-11 97 mm Flywheels. Both are premium high-end skateboard wheels, Made in the USA. These high performance high rebound wheels absorb road vibration much better than other low-grade wheels on the market, making for a super smooth ride!
The 85 mm Wheels are best for carving and recreational use. They also reduce the weight of the board a bit (0.7 lbs / 0.3 kg).
The 97 mm Wheels are best for ground clearance (e.g., transitions between street and sidewalk) and tackling rougher pavement, when using the board for transportation.
I’ve seen cheaper boards out there. Why is the Metroboard more expensive?
Make sure you are comparing apples to apples! There are boards out there on ebay, Amazon, and elsewhere that may be significantly cheaper, but when you look at the details, there is no comparison!

Can I ride in the rain?
No. Our products are designed for dry weather use only.
What kind of surfaces can I ride on?
Our on-road boards are designed for use on hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt with minimal cracks and road debris (e.g., rocks, twigs, etc). Nonetheless, due the boards fairly large 97 mm wheels, the board can handle most small road pebbles, which will get kicked to the side. The board should not be used on grass, dirt or gravelly roads!
Can I climb hills with a Metroboard? What’s the maximum rider weight?
Yes the Metroboard has a powerful 600 Watt (3000 Watts Peak) Brushless Outrunner Motor (New for Fall 2014) designed to climb hills and accelerate you quickly! We generally recommend a maximum rider weight of 250 lbs (113 kg) to ensure the best performance. Nonetheless, the Metroboard has sophisticated protection circuitry to keep both the motor, electronics, and battery from being overloaded regardless of rider weight.
What’s the Top Speed? Range? Charging Time?
The Metroboard Electric Skateboard has a thrilling 20 mph top speed, an incredible 15 – 20 mile range, and takes only 3 hours to fully recharge the battery.
How much does it weigh?
The Metroboard Electric Skateboard weighs between 15 to 19 lbs depending on the deck and wheel size. This is much lighter than most electric skateboards out there, many of which weigh over 50 lbs! The Metroboard’s light weight and compact design will make you want to take it everywhere you go!
What are the advantages of brushless motors?
New for Fall 2014, we now offer a 600 Watt (3000 Watt Peak) Brushless Outrunner Motor on all of our boards! Most electric skateboards on the market use lower tech Brushed motors.
There are many advantages to Brushless Outrunner Motors, including:
- Low weight (just 1.8 lbs / 800 grams) and very small size (just 63 mm diameter x 74 mm long)!
- Super long life (due to lack of brushes which wear over time)
- High efficiency (over 85%), meaning more range out of the same size battery!
- Quiet operation
- Low RF noise (due to lack of brushes which spark creating RF noise that can interfere with other wireless devices)
Can I try a Metroboard Electric Skateboard before I buy?

Also, if the skateboard is not going to be used for more than a month, then you should fully charge it once a month to ensure the health of the battery..
What if I have a problem with my Metroboard? Will I have to send it in?
First of all, the Metroboard is one of the most reliable electric skateboards on the market. However, problems do happen occasionally. We usually first try to troubleshoot via email and isolate where the problem is. We will send detailed instructions on what to check to help identify where the problem is. If a part is damaged, then we will send a replacement part with instructions how to replace. In some cases, you may need to send a part of the board back (e.g., the battery box) so we can repair, but in most cases you won’t have to send the entire board back.
